I bought a pair of these in 2007, ive used them loads, trek through India (Jungle), used them in the snow in Italy, backpacking in NewZealand, running with the dog, camping and mountain biking in Scotland they have remained water tight.They did take a week or two break in, i have narrowish feet, but they are a very good fit. After 5 years the treds are well worn down - they are like slicks.... Last year i had to use a bit of superglue to re stick the rubber wrap around on each side of the shoe (basically were the natural crease/bend is). But after 5 years hard use ive had my monies worth 20 times over....(i have the blue and black), def recommend them...

These are very solidly built, great looking shoes. I like Berghaus stuff generally - you seem to get high quality stuff for less than other big outdoor brands (they are a British company despite the name) and these aren't an exception. I was recently walking in Tenerife and these performed very well on a scary cliff walk I did - they gripped well and felt solid and safe the whole time. They're also really comfy just to wear at the weekend. The cons unfortunately are that 1.) They don't seem very breathable and your feet can get quite hot. I'm aware of this much less now that I've had them for a few weeks...but it is something to note. 2.) This may be a major issue for some - For some very strange reason, these are not so good on wet rock. I don't know if it's the type of rubber, or the design of the sole (or maybe I've been unlucky with the rock!) but these can be slippy. They grip like glue on dry rock, but in the wet...not so good.If you're ok with these niggles though, they're a great pair of shoes.

this walking shoe is well made and stands up to the riggers of fell walking,the only thing that i would say is my shoe size is normally a 11,i new berghaus were a small fit in clothing so I ordered a 12 and thankfully they are fine.
