A cracking saw for the money!It is belt driven, powerful, extremely accurate when not only cross cutting but also on mitring. Very straightforward to use. If I have any gripes then is only really one; and that is, you have to plunge the cut right down, and be correct the first time. Trying to trim off fine increments is not possible with this saw, I suspect because the blade (only 2.3mm kerf for a 305mm diameter)is thin. It appears that the blade distorts and wobbles when attempts are made to cut minute amounts. I felt this rather disconcerting when it happened the first time, however it has not given me undue cause for concern. I just made me wonder if the bearings were faulty, but there is no noticeable play on the blade when still.It would pay the manufacturer to make it possible for the saw to make very fine cuts. You won't be able to get a good joint if you relied on cuts of this sort. So, be sure: 1) where you need to make the cut! 2) Lower the machine into the cut without stopping until the cut is complete, or it will distort and be inaccurate. You won't be able to start the cut then hesitate and or correct the error- you'll have to get another piece of wood, and start again!This machine is so similar to the Ryobi saw, with similar blade diameter and specs, that it made me wonder if it was one and the same? The laser guide also takes some getting used to.Most Chippies will agree that you make the cuts where you need, and, if you like laser guides, then that's not a problem.You'll need ear defence, since this is extremely noisy, though it has no gearbox, so is roughly 15% quieter than saws of a similar ilk.A very sturdy, heavy saw (31Kg!) so you'll need to build the monster a dedicated bench to use it on, or buy one of those ready made mitre-saw stands.This is a fabulous piece of machinery, despite these minor gripes I have experienced! The unit cut square right out of the box, mitres more accurately than any other mitre-saw I've ever used, it cuts wood with a super fine finish with the ease of cutting butter with a hot knife. It doesn't need to be rushed. The blade also stops within 6 seconds, so its PUWER compliant!When it does eventually need replacement( can't see that happening for a considerable time!), I won't hesitate to buy another one just like it! Very well engineered, easy to maintain and adjust, powerful and efficient. In a word, a pleasure to use.Well done AEG!
