The #1699 has been a mainstay of Visconti's rucksack range for many years. The design is simple and practical, while the soft leathers make it extremely comfortable to wear day in day out. Customers like the drawstring closure which allows the bag to expand if loaded up or to scrunch up to a more compact size when its not so full. The bag closes up with an additional buckle fastening for that bit more security. The #1699 is available in Visconti's full range of leather colours. The colour is good, but general look is not as good as in the photo. I expected it much bigger, as it is called "Visconti Extra Large leather Rucksack 1699". Actually I ordered Extra Large, but received a "New large Visconti unisex dark brown soft leather rucksack backpack bag 1699", which appeared to be the same. As we see, it is the same model but sold as different items. I do not think it is strong enough as straps and handle are thin & narrow. In general it looks not bad, but too fragile. I expected more robust type of rucksack. The leather does not look strong enough; it is padded, but thin. I do not think it would last long. In a word, if you want a handbag for a lady with straps to carry on your shoulder, then it's OK. For trips or walks or mountaineering it is not good enough. I decided to leave it as I am going to attend craft workshops soon. Next time I would look for something more solid. Sizes are given in inches for "Visconti Extra Large leather Rucksack 1699" and in centimetres for "New large Visconti unisex dark brown soft leather rucksack backpack bag 1699". Both are not exactly right; I have measured them with a sewing tape. I must admit that the stitches and general proportions are good. In a word, it is OK, but not as solid as I expected. I am a bit disappointed.I made this review a year ago. I want to add that I was several times under the heavy rain with this bag. It still looks OK! I do use it very often and must admit that the quality is better than I expected at the beginning. The colour (I have a terracota one) is still great. Besides, I like more and more the metal parts. It is a good product, though a bit too small for me! Please produce something bigger of the same quality and I'll buy another one! Thank you, Natalia

A very good bag, a good size with strong straps and it looks like it will wear well. I would reccommend and it's a good price too!
