The Dovo Bergischer Lowe Straight Razor is truly beautiful. The spine and shank are both gold plated, the spine has a stunning machine tooled serrated sculpture feature.
The face of the blade has 'Bergischer Lowe' and a gorgeous lion rampant coat of arms etch washed into the face.
Dovo of Solingen Germany produce the finest Straight Razors around, using a unique "hardening" heat treatment enables Dovo to achieve the highest degree of hardness, elasticity and resistance to wear in their Razors.
The buffalo horn scales vary in colour from deep black with no variations to a mid brown with lots of grain variations (see the image).

I have owned and used one of these razors for several years now, and it is an objet d'art. It is a 5/8 width, full hollow ground blade set in three pin scales, but to my knowledge it is Dovo's ONLY spanish point razor, which means for the experienced user it can get in all the places other razors cannot so easily. In my collection it is second only to my (singing) Prima Klang. For looks, 10 out of 10, the edge wasn't bad out of the box, but these things invariably require a proper honing before use. For an edge, yes, it will come up superbly, but then again any Dovo blade will do that. For show, for a special gift or to treat yourself, buy one of these. If all you want is a good shave, you can spend an awful lot less; you can even buy a singing razor for half this price. Pretty as the Bergischer Lowe is, good as it is, a singing blade it is not.As an aside, buffalo horn scales (handles) range in colour from blonde to near black, as the ones of my own are.
