5The RODE ProCaster Microphone.
By Tyler Storm | KaahPow
So this is a great microphone from the guys at rode, as usual. So I actually used this microphone with my PreSonus audiobox 22VSL which is a great usb interface, If you don't own a pre amp you will have to get one for this microphone as its a dynamic and quite allot of gain will need to be added in order for this microphone to shine!Sound Quality:WOW, it Sounds great, not as good as the electro voice RE27 but still sounds amazing, In all honesty I prefer the ProCaster to the RE20 and the SM7B which are both meant to be studio level microphones I'm not saying that the re20 or sm7b are bad mics but the procaster sounds better with my voice personally. The procaster sounds warm and tight not as full and mellow as the re20 but theres something about the procaster's sound which I absolutely love, overall it sounds great and for the price you cant go wrong.Build Quality:This thing is built like a freaking tank! its all metal and it weights a ton (not really, around 700G) there isn't a single bit of plastic on this microphone and I love that, This microphone will last for years & years to come.Looks:Its Beautiful. Conclusion:If you want to build a studio or run a podcast and you want to do it all on a tight budget then I'd definitely suggest to get this microphone and the PreSonus 22VSL and a nice PreAmp like the PreSonus TubePre V2, this combo of products will produce a beautiful sound which everyone will love, on the other hand if you're budget is a little bit larger then I'd suggest the ElectroVoice RE27 it sounds "larger" and "meatier" whilst still maintaining that rich sparkly high end.The procaster is great and is definitely worth the £125.
