Lego kick off their 2008 releases from The Clone Wars movie with the excellent Republic Fighter Tank. The model is a very accurate representation of the vehicle and it is packed with features.The front has an opening panel which gives access to the power drive. There are opening hatches on the front of each side to store the Clone Troopers blasters and helmet gear. The aft middle portion of each side spins right round by rotating inwards to reveal a missile rack with three yellow tipped flick missiles. The main side cannons can rotate upwards by 90 degrees and the barrels can spin 360 degrees. The upper gun position can rotate 360 degrees and raise through 90 to full vertical. The upper hatch opens and closes.There are 4 thin wheels underneath, which gives the tank the impression of gliding on repulsars which is nicely done.The main roof can lift right off and one Clone Trooper can be seated inside and the other in the upper gunner's seat. The aft hatch opens out and is part of a neat mechanism tied into the gunner's seat. When you open the hatch back a little bit it releases a catch on the gunner's seat which springs upward and gets the Clone Trooper into the upper gun position. Just make sure you've got the upper hatch open!You get a Clone Trooper and a Clone Infantry Commander with the kit. The Trooper comes armed with 2 of the black blaster rifles. The Commander comes equipped with a grey waistcoat, grey shoulder pouldron, grey helmet visor, 2 grey helmet torches, 2 grey rangefinders and 2 grey DC-17P pistols.The kit comprises 568 pieces (not including the figures, weapons and missiles) and takes about 45 minutes to build. The tank measures 20 cm wide, 23.5 cm long and 14.5 cm high - to the top of the rear aerials. There are 9 decals to apply and it's ready for battle.A must have for any Republic Army!
