5Brilliant performance from laptop
By Mr. D. Sewell
Bought this in advance of my grandson going to university. It is for him but I could not resist playing. First off it has a cracking speed and brilliant video card. Handles the latest games with ease at top resolution. Blue ray player/recorder gives super video playback and the wireless network ability works atreat even far away at the top of our large garden. the separate panel for sound control is absolutely the tops. A great machine and one I heartily endorse. Pricewise it compares with competing manufactures machines costing £1000+

5Just what the Dr Ordered
By Louis Esner
I purchased this laptop in April and still have it today. I purchased it originally for Uni as it had all the relevant specs needed for what i would be using it for. To start with, the build is fantastic, the media control center on the side is also very nice and even has a HOLD feature which allows you to turn it off (this is very useful when you first get this laptop as i found i kept accidently touching parts of the control centre as i got used to the keyboard). After a week of having the laptop i was once again able to touch type and am now very used to the laptop. The fingerprint scanner also adds to the laptop in its security as well as a gadget to add. The addition of a Blu-Ray player also made me want to buy this laptop and the great thing about it is that it also upscales normal DVDs, meaning any DVDs which you watch will automatically look better. For the sound, it is brilliant, it comes with a Dolby Home Theater system built into the laptop and I feel the sound works especially well with music and whilst playing games. On the subject of gaming, it plays most games on high specs, this is mainly due to the good graphics card in the laptop as well as the great amount of RAM.The 320GB HDD is split into two, which i find useful as all my games and unnecessary files can be put onto one HDD whilst the other can be used for Windows and important files and programs. What else is there to mention, theres Bluetooth which is very good, plenty of USB ports to chose from as well as having a HDMI output. All in all I highly recommend this laptop to anyone who is into multimedia or anyone who is looking for a laptop to take to uni.

4Great laptop for the price!
By Matt H
I purchased this laptop before I went off to university in 2008, and I still have it to this day, infact, I am using it to write this review. When it arrived it was as stylish as it looks in the pictures and was really easy to set-up. I am not an expert in laptops or PC's but the descriptions and specifications were easy to understand and not too technical. I researched laptops in my price range and found that this laptop was all I would ever need, hence why I stil have it now. It easily matched, and sometimes beat, the specifications of laptops with a similar price. I looked at Sony Vaio, Asus, Toshiba and Dell and all were either more expensive for lower specifications or just generally got bad reviews across the board.StyleAs it says many times above in the description, the style of the laptop is unique and beautiful. The touch pad is as cool to use as it is to look at, the sensitivity is perfect and makes you feel like you're in control. The keyboard is slightly off centre from where most people would be use to, due to the touch pad on the left side. This isn't a problem once you've used it for a week or so. The screen is quite wide, as you would expect from this product and the in-built webcam is nicely placed and doesn't distract from the screen or style in general. The speakers are Dolby Digital so have all of the relevant markings and, again, really add to the styling of the laptop.Speed/PowerIn 2008, this laptop's processor, or should I say processors, were one of the best around. Unfortunately, like all processors, after a few years of work they begin to slow down and lose some of their initial power. This has never caused me any real issues other than the occassional angry shout for the laptop to "hurry up!".SoundThe speakers are phenomenal, they are exactly as described. They could easily match any external speakers, infact when I plugged in a set of Sony speakers, the level of sound was reduced, so I quickly removed them. The surround sound also works very well and is more of a gimick and a selling point.VisionThe graphics card in this laptop, at the time of purchase in 20008, was more than capable of handling any game. Nowadays, due to the fast paced world of technology, it only just about falls into the minimum requirements for most games. I still manage to play Championship Manager 2011 and Empire: Total War with no real issues.General useThe laptop boots up really quickly, even now after 3 years of heavy use. I have never had any problems with the hardware, only the occassional issue with software, like the in-built media player that tends to kick in everytime you insert an audio or video CD/DVD. I have now rectified this but it took a bit of figuring out.CoolingAcer's are reknowned for over-heating. This has only become a problem for me in the last 6 months and was solved by purchasing a Targus Chill Mat that pumps cool air at the bottom of the laptop where all of the components are located. I have also reviewed this so be sure to check it out.All in all, this laptop is great value for money and is guaranteed to last for around 3-4 years. I wouldnt recommend it to hardcore laptop and PC user's/ lovers as it is built for comfort and not speed or processor power.
