Purchased this lens quite sometime ago so now is a good time to say a few brief things about it, for all the reviews I read at the time of buying this lens many question the quality and that it was easily damaged and broke around the baynot fitting, well to them I'd say try not dropping it or treating it roughly, this lens is excellent value for money okay there are better lenses but when we all don't have deep pockets now do we, it delivers on quality of the picture and fits the Zoom range that i currently require, this is what matters to me, don't hesitate in buying one you won't be disappointed.

I have to admit this lens came to me with a Nikon D90 kit and I now use it with a D7000 body that I recently bought because it's such a good lens. I bought a Nikon 50mm 1.8 standard lens thinking that this would take things to another level as you might expect but actually the difference is not all that noticable. The 50mm is ever so slightly sharper and obviously brighter through the lens but considering you can get the 18-105 for about twice the price of the 50mm, get far more versatility and just as good quality. If your going to stick this on a decent DX camera e.g. D90 or better, your going to get great little combo. This is my favoured short distance lens and on the D7000 for most of the time. The reason I'm actually writing this is that I'm looking for a better lens around the same focal range but just can't find one. I'm sticking with this for now.

Typical Nikon.... Great in every respect. I find this lens more versatile than the normal 18-55 kit lens that came with my D3100.
