I bought the Garmin Nuvi 275 for a holiday to the USA. The car rental company was going to charge about two thirds of the purchase price just to hire one for two weeks, so I went to a nearby Wal-Mart and bought one for approx. 205 Euros. The great thing about the Nuvi 275 is it comes with pre-loaded maps of the USA, Canada, AND Europe, so it's been very useful after the holiday too.It's easy to use straight out of the box (it was my first Sat Nav). Street names are spoken which is a nice feature some Sat Navs don't have. On power up it finds the Satellites within about twenty seconds, and has a very useful Nav menu system allowing you to find locations by address or by their type (shopping centres, service stations, hotels, theme parks, sports arenas etc.) It has an FM receiver built into the 12V power lead which picks up traffic information for display on the Sat Nav's screen. If you do make a wrong turn it will recalculate a new route within seconds. It's a highly useful tool which completely took the stress out of navigating around Florida.

I am very happy with the Nuvi 275. I have just returned back from holiday in Florida and the system worked extremely well. It is very user friendly and simple to use. It is the first sat nav I have owned and I would recommend it.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. I looked through the list of sat navs available from amazon with America on as we are going in 2010. I read through all the reviews for and against, which I recommend everyone to do before making a decision. The Garmin came out tops. My husband is over the moon with it as he forgets how to get places quite easily, I was his 1st navigational tool with my trusty AAroadmaps, and thankfully now retired. My husband hates gatchets as a rule, but this sat nav is simple to use and the instructions easy to follow. It recalculates alternative routes really quickly. It will also let you know by pinging if you go over the speed limit, this can be annoying but saves speeding tickets and more importantly lives.
