Simply awesome!
By J. Fernandez
I searched long and hard for the perfect sat-nav, swamped with conflicting reviews and a plethora of features (most of which you'll never use#.Over the years I've used TomTom #overpriced#, Navman #fiddly and unreliable# and Binatone #don't even go there). Finally, I stumbled across Garmin and all I can say is, "Wow!". Let me tell you why.Firstly, it is simplicity itself. The 3.5" screen is perfectly compact and taken up almost entirely by the crystal clear map display. Additional trip information (most of which you'll never need) is "hidden", available at the press of a button. Your next direction is clearly displayed at the top of the screen and instead of a boring pointy arrow on the road, you get an actual car! Adding to the ease of use is the road you are travelling on, clearly highlighted in magenta. Additional side roads and streets are all there, but your main route is bright and bold.In researching sat-navs, I looked at the main differentiators between TomTom and Garmin. The reigning opinion is that Garmin just about leads the way. Why? Because its maps are based upon ordinance survey coordinates and, as such, are much more accurate than TomTom's (which can be several metres out). Garmin is also far more reliable and quicker when it comes to calculating routes.Taken a wrong route or think you know a quicker route? No problem. The Nuvi 215 recalculates your route with lightening speed and excellent accuracy.A welcome bonus is the Bluetooth hands-free calling feature, although a word to the wise. Check the Garmin website for a list of compatible phones. This unit will not pair with my Samsung Omnia, so this may be a problem if hands-free calling is a must. While I've only done a couple of fairly local journeys, I'm thoroughly impressed by the build quality, ease of use and fantastic accuracy of this sat-nav. Look no further if you want a simple, starter kit that actually fulfils the main purpose of sat-nav!

Great value Sat-Nav from Garmin!
By D. Nicoll
I was looking for a basic sat-nav produced by a quality manufacturer. After reviewing various products I decided to purchase the Garmin Nuvi 215 unit because it had all the features I required and fell within the price range of > £100. I was very pleased to receive the unit within a couple of days. On unpacking it I noted it's solid appearance and the windscreen mounting bracket snapped together firmly. It was easy to set up out of the car powered by the onboard rechargeable battery (charges when connected to cigarette lighter socket in car). Because of it's relatively small size it was unobtrusive when mounted on the windscreen and did not obscure my vision. Performance on several UK journeys has been excellent! I would definately recommend this item.

Great Garmin?
By ElizaWriter
The satnav has a cool in-built handsfree function which connects with your phone via bluetooth. The mapping device is brilliant and gets you from A-B with no trouble. However, this system does not seem to be able to get around traffic and show multiple routes to get to places which is really awful when trying to get around the M25 and not through it. So, it's great but always good to have a back-up plan as well or it might take you the long way.
