Seagate have produced an absolute stunner of a portable Hard disk drive here, the transfer speeds are good, the size is O.K. and build quality is just what you would expect from such a reputable manufacturer. All these factors would make this drive good, what makes it outstanding are the optional extras, a multimedia dock (Seagate Freeagent Theater 1080p Multimedia Hard Drive Player including Portable Hard Drive) for viewing movies and pictures on your TV, including full 1080p HD as well as a simple desktop dock (Seagate FreeAgent Go Accessory Pack - Hard Drive Case & USB Docking Station). These extras make this range standout from the crowd.Back to the actual drive, data transfer rates are consistently high just over 30MB per second meaning a 1.7GB file transfers in just under a minute. The Perfect Portable Hard Drive

This is the Seagate FreeAgent 500GB portable hard drive and features a USB 2.0 connection, a compact sleek design and useful encryption software.While the hard drive is ideal for the transport of large or multiple files between different locations, it can also be used for backing up the contents of your computers hard drive. My life is on my hard drive, with gigabytes upon gigabytes of photographs, music, personal documents, videos and everything else, I would be lost without them, and being able to backup everything to this hard drive helps me sleep at night.The transfer speed of files to and from the hard drive is perfectly acceptable and moving large files presented no problems. The storage space of 500 GB is perfect for my own use, and I imagine that unless you deal with a large amount of huge video files then it should be perfect for most users. The hard drive also doesn't produce much use when in use which helps keep the drive within healthy.The hard drive is small and light requiring no external power adaptor to carried along side it. Thanks to the plug and play abilities of USB, no additional software or driver discs are required for the installation of the drive, thus making the hard drive both user friendly and again portable.The provided USB cable is a bit short for my taste. While its short size makes it perfect for the portability aspect of the hard drive (not having a huge cable to carry with you) it is too short for most computer desks. I would have personally preferred to have seen two cables included in the packaging the short one, and a longer one.An impressive five year warranty is a welcome bonus and offers additional peace of mind. Huge storage - compact design.

I travel a lot between two locations and I have a desktop computer in both places. I used to carry around a USB-Data-Stick, which was fine for a while to carry around files so I could work on them in both locations.The space I've needed for data has been getting slowly bigger and bigger and I finally out-grew my USB-Data-Stick.I decided to shop for something with a much bigger storage capacity so I could carry round all those other files I used to wish I had enough storage for, like: my whole music collection. Now I'm able to constantly update my MP4 player no matter where I am.As portable hard-drives go, this for me has to be the best. Perfection for troubled feet!

Thank God for these trainers!These are my 4th pair of Asics Kayano 15 running shoes! My feet are the hardest ever to please - sensitive to everything... blisters, pressure from seams - you name it, I suffer from it (even a piece of fluff in my shoe can give me blisters). I don't know about running...I'm not that fit(!) but for walking & living in general these are great! Very good running shoe but not for wet cross country.

If you have a clean running action with little pronation or supination then this is a comfortable and highly supportive shoe, however a couple of problems probably mean that it is not a good choice for wet cross country running. Recommended.ProsVery comfortable and highly supportive. A top running shoe

I've tried loads of running shoes over the years but have stuck with the Kayano since I first tried a Kayano 8....and I'm now upto a Kayano 16! :-)Very comfy shoe, supports my overpronating left leg & has good cushioning.I've recommended these shoes to many runners..and they all love them.I always buy last years model as it's usualy about £50 cheaper!Regarding UK sizes I'm a 10 & an Asics 10 is a perfect fit...I find Adidas require at least 1/2 a size bigger than your foot size.Asics also do some very good off road shoes with Goretex to keep your feet dry, but this shoe is a road shoe or dry woodland path shoe. 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful.
Very light and comfortable

This shoes are fitting my size very well, i have measure 28 cm (about 43 EUR) but this 9.5 UK fits very well, i reccomend to buy 1 measure up .. as for running there is need to have larger sized sport shoes. This morning i used them for the first time, they are very comfortable and for 5 km (3.12 Miles) my feet felt not so tired after all as they were with my old Adidas. As for the design, they are not the best looking shoes on the market .. but for the function of running shoes, in my opinion are the best, and the amazon price is very good ! Nice small external drive

Ordered this for extra backup for my iMac, works fine with mac (contrary to a previous review) when reformatted. Doesn't have firewire but is much thinner and cheaper than the mac firewire version so go for this unless you really need the faster transfer speed. Silver case is plastic not aluminium but looks nice, very light and smaller than I thought it would be, not quite as small as the new WD passports but smaller and lighter than a freecom mobile aluminium drive I have. Silent operation as far as I can tell, did also try it on my macbook and powered fine with single usb. USB lead is not that long but enough to sit on the desk. The white light that 'breaths' is not too bright and looks good, certainly nothing like the increasingly irritating bright blue LED on my 1tb toshiba drive. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful.

Reviewed after owning item for a month:Pros:-Lightweight - weigh no more than an empty wallet!- easily fits into a trousers pocket + cable- no need to take laptop to work- usb powererd so ecomocial for reccession- currenly running to two virtual machines off it and it handles file transfer at 5400rpm very well without noticeable delay.- nice light display lights up on it base - very attractive without being too bright- have run it over 4 days without turning laptop off - never gets hot- Manually hard-shut-down my laptop on numerous occasions and usb is unefected. Very reliable.Cons: All these manufacturers claim 500gb but the actual count is always 465gb - they should be charged with false advertising, but after Bush corporates don't care about the truth!Conclusion: Seagate is the best usb drive manufacturer and their products are high qauality and cheap. Perfect for those with orthotics

I've been using these religously now for 2 years. I use othortics due to mild over pronation and had previously spent a fortune on other trainers, trying to find the right match. I tried Gel Nimbus but the built-in support when combined with the orthotics proved too much and wrecked my hip. EDIT ON MAY 16 2010.This HD still working. It is now full and I plan on buying the 1TB one now.Got this yesterday opened up Disk Utility on OS X and formated into two partitions one for Time Machine one for general storage. All went well and its still running.It goes off when I put the system too sleep too. Its not loud at all and the light its not distractive.If you own any kind of Mac, Book or Desktop, this will look stunning along side them. The power lead is of an appropriate length and so is the USB cable. One thing to note is that it has no Firewire port. Although the transfer rate is not too bad.It comes with feet for standing it horizontally or you can store like I have which is vertically on the stand.The design is stunning on the front and to be honest all in all this is a great piece of kit. I highly recommend it to any one, this is a must have item for any system.How ever I did read in one review that the software that comes with it will ONLY back-up Windows XP/Vista. Although it says Windows 2000 on the box you have to download this piece of software from there website,which doesn't work. When the guy contacted Seagate they said;"The software for Windows 2000 never came in the box so we can not guarantee anything."So this may be something to watch out for!Apart from this a great pice of kit. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
