4A functional 2 door wardrobe with an excellent finish.
By Paddy (in memory of my Border Collie)
I wanted a reasonably priced 2 door wardrobe for a spare bedroom; I chose the 2 door Nova. The delivery service from the supplier, Comfy-Living / Amazon was unsurpassed by any on-line purchase I have made during the last few years, five stars, it does not come any better than this! The product finish was excellent, the final made-up build quality I rate as four stars, the flat pack pieces are thoughtfully numbered for easy DIY assembly. However, it could do with some cross bracing or corner struts which would make it more stable and less prone to lateral movement. The pine is a little on the soft side, make sure that you don't overdo the torque when screwing the item together and don't whinge about the odd dimensional error where the pieces are pop marked to show where you should screw in the sundry items. But hey, such is life, you get what you pay for and this little number is well placed in the market, it's good value for money and deserves a positive review.Geoff Day - Mid Wales.

4Looks good and performs well
By Bluebell
When my Panasonic Dimension 4 combination microwave finally died after 25 years of unfailing service I thought that I would without question buy another Panasonic. To my dismay, from reading reviews on Amazon, at least for some models, reliability and build-quality of Panasonic microwave ovens has been questioned. I swithered and delayed buying another oven and checked numerous different makers and models, but, in the end decided to go for this model that doesn't seem to have attracted too much criticism; got a good report in Which? and was selected by Good Housekeeping magazine for particular praise.I've only had the oven for a few weeks but must say that it is easy to set-up with intuitive controls and is performing well. The lack of a turntable, thus enabling one to use the whole of the interior space of the oven, is a plus. On combination (micro + convention) programmes you can use the supplied metal oven shelf and if only using it as a conventional fan oven cooking can be done on two levels. I haven't used a quartz grill before and am impressed that it doesn't need any pre-heating: much more economical that a conventional grill, especially if you just want to quickly brown the top of a shepherds' pie or grill a piece of fish for a few minutes.Straight microwave has a range of power levels from Defrost, Simmer, Low, Medium and High. The actual wattages for these descriptors are in the manual. The manual is an A5 black and white booklet that is nothing like as attractive or helpful as the full-colour cookery book I got with my old Panasonic. In the latter there was more transparency over the actual power levels and convection oven temperatures used in the pre-set programmes, which I found helpful when learning how to adapt my own recipes. Whereas in the new oven one is presented with 13 pre-set programmes but no information about what power levels and temperatures are employed. I e-mailed Panasonic to ask for this information, but they refused saying it was "confidential"!I've tried some of the pre-set programmes, for example, for baked potatoes. The latter produced perfectly tender potatoes, but, for our tastes the skin was too hard and crisp (owing to the grill evidently being part of the programme). Fortunately, one can create combinations oneself and I found micro Simmer plus 180 degrees got the result I wanted but I had to base the timing on my experience of my old microwave oven.I think the combination of convection plus microwave is the most useful cooking tool and I've been pleased with the results for such things as Anna potatoes. My old oven had AutoSensor cooking by microwave that detected the moisture content of the oven to tell that particular foods were cooked and I am disappointed that this oven doesn't have this function: you have to weigh the food to get "auto" cooking. One strange thing I've found with this microwave is that it has a profound effect on Bluetooth communications much more than my previous microwave oven. Even if I'm several feet away from the oven (when it's using microwave power) and I have, say, my iTouch in my pocket communicating by Bluetooth to headphones: the signal drops off in pulses. The microwave doesn't affect my Apple Extreme wire-free network or infra-red signals. Searching on-line I find that this is a known problem of microwave ovens, but, my experience of two ovens this one affects Bluetooth much more: maybe because it uses a different "Inverter" technology.A point that may affect some potential purchasers is that this microwave has vents on both sides of the machine that must have space between them and adjacent walls, cupboards etc. You have to allow for a 5cm space on the left and 10cm on the right-hand side. The machine is 51cm wide so this means that you couldn't, for example, slot it into a standard 60cm housing or similar-sized gap.UPDATE September 2010: I've now had this microwave oven for over 9 months and continue to be pleased with it. I expressed disappointment above over the lack of an AutoSensor function on this model. However, I would now have to say that the Auto cooking on this oven (once you've input the weight of the food) actually performs better and more accurately than the AutoSensor mode of my previous model. In addition, the new oven displays the cooking time as soon as you press start, whereas the AutoSensor didn't give a time until it had operated for some time and was detecting the moisture given off by the food. The upshot of this is that with the new oven you can check how long it will take to cook the food and re-start the process to tie-in with when you need the food to be ready.UPDATE March 2012: The oven is still performing well with frequent use, particularly combining micro-wave and convection. The HIGH setting of micro-wave is pretty powerful and can cause, for example, milk or butter to explode and spray all over the oven. I've taken to putting a cover over things I'm heating on High as I have had to clean boiled milk and butter spattered all over the oven. The worst part being cleaning the ceramic grill as it is protected by a metal lattice that can't be removed. Take from me don't try to burn off spatters using the grill!I noticed that another reviewer had criticized the fact that a piece of plastic had fallen off after only a few uses of the oven. I should point out that this was probably plastic attachment that clips on the feet under the door to catch condensation that many foods create within the oven and that drip down when the drop is opened. It is detachable to allow you to dispose of the water.

5The Best!
By A. Stevens
We have always had Panasonic Microwaves, simply because they are well made and durable and reliable. They may well be pricey, but after all, you only get what you pay for. We bought this model to replace an ageing earlier combi oven, which was used everyday for most cooking uses, and is in fact still going strong. This new model has no turntable, as the magnetron is built in under the floor of the oven, which is made from a solid slab of ceramic, making it easy to clean as well. The controls are classic Panasonic, logical and well laid out, requiring little reference to the manual. Auto cook facilities are brilliant. You can also (as long as you follow the guidelines in the book) use metal utensils on full micropower using the antispark ring. Clever stuff. Multi-stage cooking and two adjustable shelves if required make this oven very versatile. The door opens downwards and forms a very useful ledge on which to rest any dishes either before or after cooking. Cleaning the cabinet only requires a damp cloth, as does the inside. The occasional use of a specialised stainless steel cleaner will help to keep eveything clean. There is even a removeable drip tray to collect condensated water on the bottom of the door. One word of caution, is that the cabinet can get very hot to touch when in convection, grill or turbo-bake mode. This fact is highlighted in the users manual and there is a subtle warning sticker on top of the oven.To date, there have been no issues, and the very absence of a turntable seems to make things work better. It also looks very good on the kitchen worktop as well. This is certainly one make and model to put on your shortlist.

5Good combi microwave
By Mr. D. P. Graves
We had a Panasonic combi microwave (NNA883) before that served us well for about 5 years. As good as our old one was, this is better. The NNA883 couldn't quite cook a pizza evenly. this model has no problems at all. We have had it now for 2 months and it gets used everyday cooking a wide variety of food. It cooks them all well. Well recommended. Presumably, the silver plastic version is just as good at cooking! The only annoyance with it is that the timer jumps up in 5 minute steps after 10 minutes. This is OK as it has two timers. So, you can cook for, say, 12 minutes by setting timer 1 to 10 minutes and timer 2 to 2 minutes.A tip for anyone looking at Panasonic microwaves. Read the manuals on the Panasonic website and you will notice that some say "Do not cook on both shelves in oven mode". This is true for the microwaves that can only go up to 200 degrees. Well, these are the microwaves that use the grill to heat the oven. Those that can cook on both shelves and heat up beyond 200 degrees are 'proper' ovens.

By DC6079
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A GOOD SET OF BINOCULARS FOR A WHILE NOW AND HAVING TRIED MY FRIENDS CANON 10X30IS ONES I THOUGHT I HAD MADE MY SELECTION, MY MAIN USE IS HUNTING, / WILDLIFE OBSERVATION, AND GENERAL HOLIDAY USE, SO A LIGHT WEIGHT COMPACT SET WAS WHERE I WAS SETTING MY SELECTION, I WAS TAKEN BY THE IMAGE STABILISING FACILITY OF THE CANONS, AND THE VERY GOOD OPTICAL PICTURE THEY GAVE, BUT IN ALL OTHER RESPECTS THEY LACKED SOME ESSENTIAL FEATURES I WANTED, IE, FULLY WATERPROOF AND FOG PROOF. BECAUSE THE ENGLISH WEATHER CAN BE SO UNPREDICTABLE. IN MANY HOURS OF SEARCHING I KEPT COMING ACROSS THE VANGUARD 1040 ED ONES, MOSTLY AMERICAN REVIEWS, BUT SOME ENGLISH ONES AND I HAVE TO SAY THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED A BAD WORD YET, INDEED ONE BINOCULAR TESTING SITE HAS AWARDED THEM BEST VALUE BINOCULARS OF 2011, OUTSTRIPPING MANY MODELS THAT ARE THREE AND FOUR TIMES THEIR PRICE IN SEVERAL IMPORTANT FIELDS, I HAVE TO SAY A LITTLE ON THE AMAZON SITE, AS WELL, AND MY EXPERIENCE WHEN BUYING THESE. I NORMALLY TRY TO BUY ITEMS THAT ARE SOLD BY AMAZON OR BACKED MY THEM, THESE WHERE SOLD BY THEM. AND I NORMALLY GO FOR THE FREE SUPER SAVER DELIVERY OPTION AS I FIND ITEMS TURN UP QUICKLY BY THAT METHOD, AND ITS FREE. HOWEVER WITH THE BINOS COSTING £266-ODD I DINT WANT TO RISK IT AS NEAR AS IT IS TO CHRISTMAS SO I PAID FOR THE NEXT DAY BEFORE 1PM OPTION, WHICH COST NEARLY NINE POUNDS. ALL I CAN SAY IS, WOW. WITHIN AN HOUR I HAD AN EMAIL TELLING ME THEY HAD BEEN DISPATCHED, AND THEY HAD A TRACKING NUMBER FROM CITY http://amazon.co.uk/dp/B0027H0E96/?tag={bouquinfrance-21}. THEY ARRIVED AT 8.30 NEXT MORNING. BRILLIANT SERVICE!GOING BACK TO THE VANGUARDS, THE IMAGE IS PHENOMENALLY CLEAR AND SEEMS ALMOST 3D CERTAINLY HD, CHECK OUT THE REVIEWS FOR YOURSELF BEFORE PAYING OUT ON A SET PLEASE DO, YOU COULD END UP LIKE ME SAVING SOME MONEY AND GETTING A BETTER SPECT MODEL INTO THE BARGAIN, OH AND BY THE WAY THEY HAVE A 30 YEAR OR LIFETIME WARRANTY TO THE ORIGINAL BUYER,I WONT ADD ANY MORE ON THE OPINION OF THEM FOR FEAR OF LOOKING LIKE I AM COPYING WHAT I HAVE READ ABOUT THEM, READ THEM FOR YOURSELVES,TOP BUY!!!!!

5Vanguard Spirit ED 10x42 Binoculars
By Jojools
I bought these binoculars through Amazon.co.uk after reading great reviews on Binocular sites about them I was not dissapionted by their performance absolutely crystal clear views, pin sharp focus, vivid colurs really crisp almost 3D like, and SO BRIGHT.. all this with solid build quality. The binoculars are waterproof/fogproof they are phase corrected, have an emerald coating, a V-max silver coating, and an anti reflection coating, the prisms and optics use ED glass for extra low light dispersion.. all the features usually only seen in top class £600-£1000+ binoculars these Vanguard Spirit ED 10x42 binoculars are superb and can compete with Leica, Swarovski,Zeiss for a quarter of their prices. All this for way under £300, You just can't get a better pair of roof prism binoculars at this price well done Binoculars-UK. By the way did I mention how light they are 640g and that they come with a nice bag and excellent neck strap. These really are excellent binoculars with 16mm of eye relief and twist up eye cups all made with quality soft rubber, smooth precise focus and good field of view. In testing these along side my trusty Carl Zeiss 8x30 jenoptems the Vanguards blew them away for clarity, colour, brightness. They even out performed my Swift Audubons ED. 8.5x44..which are great.. I could see no colour fringing or other lens problems you get with all binoculars. To sum up if you want 10x magnification, light weight, top quality, all the coatings and ED glass get on to Amazon or if your near Blackpool go see Richard at Binoculars-UK now for a great deal. I am in no way affiliated or reviewing the above binoculars for any company or website this is my own honest/personal review of the Vanguard Binoculars.

4Well worth the money
By Woodsman
In the past I've always purchased relatively inexpensive binoculars, thinking that the extra cost of the more expensive models is not worth it. The Vanguard Spirit ED have certainly changed my mind on that score. I can highly recommend them for crystal clear view, excellent light transmission and superb mechanics. In addition, although I was a bit skeptical that they would be OK for use with glasses (none of my other binoculars have been), the massive eyepiece lenses ensure that the view with or without glasses is perfect.

4Pricey but very good quality.
By Mrs. Bryony A. Shaw
I am actually pretty impressed by this baby monitor. It has replaced a Walkabout Premier Digital which we have got on ok with but I have never quite trusted completely as on a couple of occasions it has let us down and somehow lost connection to the base.It is much much smaller than I expected it to be and very unobtrusive in the lounge. When I first turned it on I didn't think the screen was particularly easy to read but it has a backlight that comes on as soon as you are actually pressing any buttons which then makes it very easy to read.Ridiculously easy to set up - just plug and play really. It says that you should charge the batteries for 10 hours before using but we were having a little fiddle after a couple of hours and it didn't seem to mind.It really is the baby monitor with everything. It has a temperature sensor and the temp is displayed along with the humidity at all times on the parent base. You can also stop and start lullabies using the parent controls which I would have found handy when my daughter was younger. You can turn the nightlight on and off remotely although it is such a tiny tiny light that I really can't imagine any baby/child noticing whether it is on or off. It certainly wouldn't help you see much at night. I dropped a star for that really as the Tomy nightlight gives out a very nice amount of light. You can control how sensitive the monitor is, I don't have mine set too high as I don't want to hear my toddler snoring lol but I am sure that with a tiny baby it would be great to be able to set it to the highest and hear every little breath. The quality of the sound is really what makes this monitor a vast improvement over my Tomy tho. It is so clear and not a buzz or a hiss or a slightest hint of interference. My old one had to be moved around a bit in the evenings sometimes as it would pick up interference from the computer or our phone etc.Another nice little touch is that you can press a talk button on the side of the parent monitor and be heard on the baby base. I would never use this to say anything to the baby but have been in positions in the baby days when one of us would be stuck in the room getting the baby to sleep and it would have been handy to be able to communicate both ways. All in all I would say if you are looking for a top of the range baby monitor and money's no object then you certainly seem to get what you pay for.It comes with a travel bag which is a nice touch and the whole thing feels really high quality and well thought out.

4Very expensive baby monitor but does what it says on the tin
By SlayerKat
I'm really impressed with this baby monitor. In fact I can't really fault it except for the price. It's a nice little piece of kit. Out of the box you receive the base unit with wall plug (which looks strangely like an old fashioned tape player), the parent unit with wall charger and a carrying bag for trips. All the components are a simple white with metallic blue fascia and the Philips Avent logo. They look quite smart. First things first and most importantly it works. When both units or plugged in and linked the parent unit clearly picks up the noise in baby's bedroom. There is no interference and no picking up of local police radio or next door neighbours baby! I had lots of problems with my previous BT baby monitor so it's a joy to have a monitor that actually works properly. The parent unit is quite tiny and easy to carry around. It also comes with a strap to wear around your neck but I haven't bothered with it.Other features include a temperate gauge and humidity gauge which display simultaneously on the parent unit and baby unit. I have no idea what the humidity bit means and it seems to be 'normal' which is good. Not sure what I would do if it's not normal but there you go. You can also control a selection of nursery rhyme tunes from both the baby unit and the parent unit. There is tiny nightlight on the baby unit which is a bit useless as an actual light but my baby seems to like it's orange glow. You can use batteries in the baby unit instead of the power unit for travelling too. Also features a talkback system which is actually much more useful for giving orders to my other half when he is upstairs and saves shouting round the house. I've tried using it to reassure my baby but I think it just freaks him out because he can hear me but can't see me. Maybe it will be more useful when he's older. There is a pager alarm as well from the baby unit if you mislay the parent unit and need to find it.The battery life on the parent unit has been superb. I've had it just over 2 weeks and I still haven't had to recharge it (after the initial charge) and I've been using it for hours every night. When baby cries you have a choice of lights and sound or just lights. You can also have a vibrate function which I've never needed to use.In summary, this is a pretty good baby monitor but it's so expensive. At this price it could have feature some more extras like a clock would have been nice. It loses a star for not good value for money otherwise I give it five stars.

5Superb - Love It!
By debbie8355
With 3 children I've used a variety of baby monitors and this is simply the best. Yes, it is expensive but it'll last for years and the design, build quality and performance of this monitor is exceptional. The parent unit is the size of a small pager, very discreet and easy to carry around in a pocket. It comes with a well made, quality carry strap which means as well as carrying it in a pocket (with optional belt clip) you could also carry it around your neck. The main unit is also very small which makes it exceptionally good for travel and it comes with a very practical carry case which stores the units and charger safely. It looks fantastic and would make a 'wow' gift for any expectant parents.I have used this monitor for a few months now and the performance is excellent. You can hear breathing clearly and without interference. The base unit also has some twinkly lullabies and a dim night light - gadgets in the past I bought independently from my baby monitors so it's great they are included in one very small unit here. The parent small unit has an internal rechargeable battery and the base unit can also work on 4 AA batteries however it eats those batteries - I've often forgotten to turn the unit off and they are used up within 24 hours. There are handy features such as not only being able to turn the nightlight on from the main unit but also being able to do so remotely from the hand held parent unit. You can turn the sound off on the parent unit but still be alerted to sounds in the babies room by very bright flashing lights on the parent unit (the louder the noise, more of the 5 lights go on - handy for when you are watching tv). Alternatively you can make the unit vibrate strongly to alert you to noise. This unit would be exceptionally useful for parents with hearing or sight problems. There is also a walky talky function so you can talk (though rather tinnily) to your child without necessarily going into their room. My elder children have found this feature very amusing and because the unit is so small and portable I've often found them playing with it in the garden (part of the reason why I'm getting through so many batteries!).The temperature display is very important in my opinion and it did alarm on hot days to alert me of high temperatures although optimistically it did tell me we were in the mid 30's when it ws more like high 20's/low 30's in June. There are lots of settings and buttons on the parent unit to play with. You can increase or decrease the sensitivity and chose your alert method and volume. The humidity display is probably not going to be that useful to most parents but if you have a child with medical problems then it could be helpful. The only negative things I can think of saying are a couple of times after the unit had completely run out of batteries I thought the unit had broken because the normally battery charging logo wasn't there when trying to recharge via the mains but eventually after being plugged in for half an hour it came to life. Also because of it's small size I've mislaid the parent unit on a few occasions but there is a pager button on the main unit so you can find it again as long as everything is charged up.Overlall, I love this unit and wish it'd been available when my first child was born! Very highly recommended. I'd buy this every time versus the more pointed shape avent monitors (one of which I also have).

5really good product
By Dave Ponty
I ordered the bed on Thursday evening, and received on Monday morning. My wife and myself assembled the bed in about 45 mins. The instruction supplied needed about five mins of study, but being and avide diy person, found it simple to assemble. The bed when assembled is really sturdy. The centre rail used is really good. In the past I have had beds for my son, and the centre rail has been quite flimsy. I have used this bed with a 10in memory foam mattress, and I repeat, it's really sturdy. Given the bed five stars, and would highly recommend it.

Got a very nice and friendly call from supplier after ordering to arrange a delivery time, bed arrived in four (surprisingly light) boxes bang on time.I found the instructions needed a little thinking about (particulary where the beams cross) and a fair bit of squinting, but were simple enough once the light dawned. Bed has about 20 allen screws so is a little fiddly but just take it nice and slowly and no problem. 4 boxes went to nice looking bed with wife's approval in just over an hour.End result, lovely bed, coupled withHypnia Memory Foam Mattress with Free Memory Foam Pillows, 5 ft/ 10-inch Thick, King Sizegave a fantastic memory foam, new bed experience for just under £300.Overslept this morning! :)

5Excellent baby monitor
By Alexandru
Both the parent and the baby unit are very small compared to what I expected from the advertised images!I'm happy with the parent unit using AAA rechargeables (included) and the baby unit using both outlet power as 4 * AA non-rechargeables.No interference, it works as advertised, I recommend it.

5Fantastic monitor - the best!!
By Gadget Mummy
This is by far the best baby monitor I have tried & it is my fourth attempt!!! Simple to use, lots of extra features if you're into that sort of thing. The most important aspect for me was the perfectly clear transmission with no interference. I can hear my baby breathing & turning over or moving in the cot at the maximum sensitivity / volume setting, (or the sensitivity / volume can be decreased if preferred). Great battery life. Parent unit is small & stylish like a mobile phone & I particularly like the cord you can attach to carry it around your neck. Before this one I have also tried the following monitors...- a very old Angelcare monitor (very good & would recommend - older models just a bit buzzy with interference),- a basic Tommee Tippee (awful interference, but gave to a friend & it is fine in her house),- BT 150 (the worst - interference, not sensitive/loud enough & transmission would cut out even though lights said still transmitting - so scary!!! Sent it back)I am thinking about getting another Philips Avent SCD520 for my second baby as Philips have assured me because the monitors use DECT technology so won't interfere with each other.Highly recommended!

5A quality item
By Tan y ddraig
Having previously used one of the first Philips DECT baby monitors I was keen to see how this new model performed. Whereas the older model offered basic monitoring and talk facility this new model offers several extra features including 5 lullabies, digital display, remote access and temperature monitoring. Its crisp white colour is far more pleasing on the eye than the old brown and cream version and the overall aesthetics are much improved. The monitoring unit is neat and unobtrusive with a natty little temperature monitoring antenna at the rear. So far the temperature monitor has been spot on and I have not had any trouble with false readings as some reviewers have mentioned. The handset sits securely in its cradle without the finicky connection of the old version which used to be a bit of a lottery at the best of times. The menu system is very straight forward and its a doddle to set your preferences regarding sensitivity, volume, temperature and sound alerts. Another nice little feature is the ability to turn the night light and lullabies on remotely. I was expecting the lullabies to be dreadfully tinny and annoying but in truth they are rich and soothing, albeit a little short in duration. The night light is adequately bright and does not light the room up like a beacon as some makes do.The sound quality is excellent and I have had no incidence of signal interference from other wireless devices in the home. If I have any criticisms it is the use of the blue screen illumination where the writing is very awkward to distinguish due to it appearing blue on a blue background. It would also be useful if you could turn off the rather loud beep from the handset when changing settings in the middle of the night!Overall I am extremely pleased with the quality of this item and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to fellow parents.Yes its expensive but you cannot but a price on the peace of mind it provides and the old adage of 'you get what you pay for' applies here.

5Vanguard excellent performance and value
By Zaf
I spent months casually researching all different brands of binoculars, comparing features and value and its not easy. However after reading a review on [...] I decided to take the plunge and I am delighted I did. VANGUARD Spirit ED 8420 BinocularsThey were delivered quickly by Amazon and just in time for my trip to St Kilda in the Outer Hebrides.I spent most of my week on board a dive boat with forays ashore and took these with me everywhere. I had no worries they might get knocked and damaged as they are superbly built and great for this type of trip. Used them at sea to spot several pods of Dolphins and Whales too as well as all the sea birds and fantastic scenery. I am currently using them watching deer and birds and they are good at this too.The image is bright and clear right up to the edges, fast focussing, waterproof and caps that wont get lost or get in the way. I did not find them heavy and they sit solidly in your hands and the twist up eye cups are great and comfortable unlike my old pair. For the features and the quality these have the price is great too. You won't be disappointed.

5Excellence at a good price
By Harrier
I had been looking for a pair of binoculars for my wife, of similar quality to the pair I use, but a little lighter. The Vanguard Spirit ED8420 binos had received good reviews and were very reasonably priced so I ordered a pair. They arrived quickly and were put to use on Christmas morning, in poor light and rainy conditions on the north Kent marshes. They immediately impressed with their ease of use and good light admitting qualities. My wife and I would would have no hesitation whatever in recommending these binoculars.

5Excellent Product
By Mr. T.J. Davies
Bought this as a present for my parents for Christmas after hearing them discussing years of owning relatively cheap pairs of binoculars and wishing they had something of better quality. I spent a long time researching different makes and models with the aim of finding the best compromise between quality and price for a pair of binoculars to be used for multi purposes (mainly bird watching and wildlife in the uk but also at motorsport events and plane watching). After many of hours of research reading online product tests, professional reviews and buyers reviews I decided on this model. After a month of ownership I have heard only praise from my parents regrading the product and from my limited use they seem excellent and in another league from the £50-100 pairs I have previously used. Excellent build quality as well as packaging, case and carry strap. Excellent value especially with Vanguards current £40 off promotion.

4Simple and basic - but it does the job.
By @GeekZilla9000
I've recently taken receipt of both this monitor and it's bigger brother - the Philips AVENT SCD520 DECT Baby Monitor. This review is a modified version of that review as the two items are very similar, hopefully the two reviews will help to detail the main differences between the two...This monitor doesn't have a screen, but it still does the primary job very well: The sound quality is very good and as with other digital baby monitors I've experienced, this suffers from very little interference. It's sensitive enough to pick up baby breathing - but you can turn it down if you find it too dominating a noise in the living room!I tend to have baby monitors turned turn down and rely more on the lights to alert me of any noise, and this Avent model manages that fine. This is a basic model and doesn't have the bells and whistles of many others out there. For example there are no `soothing lullabies', but that's not a massive loss - I'm not a big fan of polyphonic lullabies but during loud bouts of crying it does come in handy to have a lullaby cut through the noise to distract baby, and it does sometimes work, but nothing ever beats a cuddle! The nightlight is impressive - it's not bright but it isn't meant to illuminate the entire room! I've had baby monitors with nightlights before and they were piddly little ones, the Avent nightlight provides a nice comforting glow. All in all this is a great baby monitor which will serve its purpose well. It's quite basic by modern standards - but the main job of a baby monitor is to allow you to listen in and that is something which this unit excels at. You can still press a button to talk back to baby - very handy to provide a gentle "shush, shush, shussshhh" when required. I've given this the same four star ranking as the more advanced model, although it has less functions - you do pay less for the product.

3What a disappointment!
By Rock Dad
Having recently destroyed our tried and tested Philips DECT baby monitor we had to get a new one. Our old Philips lasted for nearly 5 years and has been through two kids and has been easy to use and reliable.I expected a newer model to have improved features/performance. However, the Philips Avent SCD510 DECT range was a big disappointment. I'm not sure if this new version has less powerful transmitters/receivers than the old type, but the monitor had trouble keeping a signal in our house. When it loses it signal, the beeping alarm goes off and we would have to wonder around the house holding the monitor above our heads searching for a signal, followed by a gentle and prolonged walk back to our starting point! Yes, we do have an old house with thick walls, but the 5 year old monitor worked perfectly.I've had to send this back - it simply doesn't work unless you're in the next room. I thought the price was too good to be true for a DECT monitor!Summary: Might work in a newer house with thin walls but don't go near this if you have an older house/thicker walls.Build quality: ***Sound Quality: ***Battery: ****Range: *Features: ***

5Crsytal Clear and Static Free Monitor
By R. Patel
We have had 3 monitors before this one, the other 2 being BT monitors and a Tomy monitor. I would say this particular monitor trumps all of them in terms of crystal clear sound and zero interference. The other nice thing about this particular model is that the remote unit is relatively compact and light it also has a belt clip facility which is extremly handy when doing the chores around a large home. None of our other monitors have a simple but effective ability to carry around the home or outdoors. We tend to spend allot of time in the garden and having the ability to clip to your belt is very handy. The range of this unit is 330m, but we've tested this in our bricked garage and still the sound is crystal clear, very much like being in the same room as the baby. Our BT unit was good, but this unit trumps it in terms of crstal clear sound. Also, it guarantees zero interference, which I must admit is very reassuring, our BT unit sometimes had static when we used our panasonic phone, which was a bit annoying, this unit is flawless, we've not experienced any static noise. The base and remote unit can be used with batteries or the adaptor provided. This was very handy when on holiday. Our last place had really thick walls so mobile phone reception was bad and most of our friends monitor did not work due to the thick walls, but this unit worked a treat with clear sound even in the basement. The unit has a night light and you have the ability to talk back to the base unit, which helps reassure the baby when they hear your voice. It doesn't have the fancy temp/humidity. monitor etc, but we don't need this functionality.I cannot fault this baby monitor and I have relegated my BT monitor to it's box. If any parent is looking for crystal clear sound and zero intereference, then they look no futher as this is possibly the best monitor me and my wife have come across. It's flexible and discrete which is a added bonus in my view.Thorughly recommend this unit to any parent who is possibly undecided when it comes to choosing the right baby monitor.

34ft Tetras metal small double bed review
By H. Burton
They say you get what you pay for, and in the case of this bed, they're spot on.The design is nice, the build quality's ok but this bed has been constructed using the thinnest/smallest possible sections, meaning it's rather weak and fragile. It won't stand any abuse (e.g. sitting on the footboard, children bouncing etc.). Also I wouldn't recommend it for a particularly heavy person.I must stress that it's perfectly fine as long as it's not mistreated, and I think the price/quality balance is good.If you need a bed that's sturdy though, you'll need to spend a bit more money.

2Not built to last
By Dawn: Altrincham
I bought this bed for my then 17 year old son, two years ago. He is about 5'10 and lean build. The bed looks very nice. However the two middle supports are not sturdy enough. About two months after I bought it I noticed that they had started to splay out. The sprung slatted base is in two halves meeting along the central bar running along the length of the bed that the supports hold up. So they get a lot of stress. Each strut is only held on to the middle bar by 1 screw. It is the screw that can't take the strain and bends causing the strut to splay out. It's a shame, this problem could be easily be solved by the manufacturer by making the middle supports sturdier and attaching them to the frame by at least two screws each.Unfortunately without proper support the central bar gradually sank in the middle, then the slats started to fall out and the bed collapsed, at which point we had to replace the bed after only two years. It is a really nice looking bed, if you are tempted to buy it, I would recommend to support the central bar with something else as well as the struts, or try to reinforce the struts. Or just buy it for a (light weight) child.

5Lovely Earrings
By Gillybean
Just received these earrings and they are exactly as I hoped, not too big or small, look very elegant. The sort of earrings you can wear every day or dressed up. I had a similar pair and lost one due to the wire being flimsey but these are more substantial and not easily pushed out by high collars etc.

5very pretty pearls
By Lisa K. Schaffnit
I bought these to wear for my wedding and they're WONDERFUL. I couldn't wait the 3 months to wear them, so wore them the day after they arrived. The pearls are a good size, and the shape is classic but different...not your usual single-pearl earrings. I have quite sensitiving ears, so notice when earrings are not made of gold, but these definitely are as I had no itching (I even react to silver, so the no itching was quite a feat!). All around wonderful.
