The clock is well made, but the description says that only the best materials are used. Well, the clock is made mainly from MDF, which is a substitute for what it pretends to be, wood. My main problem with it is that the chime sounds scratchy and unattractive, and one of the notes is distinctly, and disturbingly, off-key. If you're wondering about how often the chime operates, as I was, it's on the hour with strikes for each hour, but it does not chime on the quarter hour. This was to be a gift, and I think the recipient will like it, but I don't consider it good value for money even at the lower price I bought it at elsewhere online. Perhaps, because you need to hear it, this is one of those few items it's best to search out in a shop.

I bought this clock as a wedding present and am impressed by its presentation and quality. Although it is mdf, it certainly looks like wood and the internal workings are good quality. I didn't get the chance to try the chime (it is a present after all) but I like the clock face, which is stylish and clear. Just before I wrapped it up, I tried it on my mantle piece and am sorely tempted to buy a similar one for myself now. I am sure that the bride and groom will like it and I feel proud to present an item like this as a gift.

We brought clock as a anniversary gift for in laws who had been married for 60 years.They loved the chimes.
