3Robotic vacuum cleaner
By Mack the Knife
This was to replace our much more expensive I Robot, where 2nd brush motor has worn out in a year!So far this one is OK, but running time is very short. Also no English instructions came with machine. Had to download pdf after e mail to supplier. Also gets stuck easily trying to climb furniture and skirting boards!

5If you feel overwhelmed by housework this is for you
By connected
I bought this thinking that it might be a bit gimmicky but it's exceeded my expectations - especially as it's not the dearest model on sale. It's totally changed my life, I just press the button as I leave for work & come back to a beautifully clean floor. As someone with a dust allergy, that's great. I thought that it would probably only work on hard floors but it does just as good a job on the little bit of carpet we have. It also does stuff I didn't expect, like trundle up & over mats etc if it needs to.Plus it's got personality, like a pet that useful! The only downside I can see is that it's fiddly to clean. But if you have kids without a dust allergy, they love to do that job, as they think of it as a little robot whose belly they're cleaning. I love it & I'm so glad I bought it.

3It's not a Roomba
By CS Professor
It's not a Roomba in terms of cleaning power but OTH, it's not the same price. I have one like this but without the fancy bits and it was half the price of this one here. It replaced my now-dead Roomba and I run it about every other day. It's more difficult to clean (the Roomba isn't exactly a cinch either) and it definitely doesn't get up as much stuff. Having said all that, robot vacs are a lot better than doing it yourself and they clean in a different way and under stuff. One thing you need to know (I've had at least three from different manufacturers), they don't last forever; the batteries eventually die and if you replace those and use your robot a lot, then it'll completely wear out mechanically. So, maybe cheaper is better as long as they do a reasonable job. Must say, I was really, genuinely sad when the old red Roomba died - we had bonded! Go tell Aunt Rhody ...
