Very good but a few niggles
By Simon C
Firstly, this is the 3rd winter I've been using this light.Good points.1. Quoted burn times are achievable. Even with a 2+ year old battery I had it on high power for a 2hr 5 min ride down the canal in the dark the other week and it lasted just fine.2. Peripheral light output is very good, you see branches/brambles long before they hit you in the face.3. Forward light output is acceptable for off-road use in pitch black, on easy going you can go as fast as you can in daylight4. Quick release clamp is good and it has a small amount of swivel movement so you can offset slightly to right or left if you've got weird shaped bars. (Note, I've never tried it helmet mounted)5. Flashing mode is great for road useNot so good points.1. No charge meter to tell you how much battery is left2. On high speed decents, (road or off road) light throw is not long enough. Needs to be complemented by a helmet mounted light with a tight spot beam for >20mph use or for the twisty stuff in the woods.3. Has an annoying habit, especially if its cold, of going in to power save mode when you switch light levels, even when going from high power to flashing. This is even worse if you're running a district 3 rear with a splitter cable. Solution is to turn light off then turn it back on (turn District 3 off as well and then power the Hope 4 up first). The light will still do this even when the battery is fully charged.4. Cable connectors are waterproof (I've ridden through 2 winters with them) but they can be very stiff to connect and dis-connect.In summary. A very good light but with a couple of relatively minor niggles. Bottom line - I would buy another.

Very very bright, actually too bright
By PEBL
I bought this light last winter and used on a pitch black cycle path and it worked really well. I had to send back to the manufacturer (Hope Tech) as I had a problem with the connectors but they fixed it and sent it back very quickly. They also sent me a psare part free of charge that I had lost while the light was stored away for the summer. The light is incredibly bright and most of the time I keep it on it's lowest setting otherwise it is blinding to other cyclists and motorists. The beam is broad and very even.I use the helmet attachment that came with the light as it is too expensive to leave on my bike while its parked at work. The light is made of a solid metal construction which is heavy but you soon get used to it.
