I'm new to the joys of motorcycling but I soon picked up sound advice to get a Scottoiler fitted to my new-ish Suzuki. After reading up about it and speaking to experienced bods in Heine Gerrick, I learnt more about this ingenious automatic chain oiler. It's ingenious because oil is delivered ONLY when the engine is running. Output is regulated by an adjustable control and actuated by a vacuum tube connected to a T-piece near the carb, though I gather later fuel injected bikes work fine too.Whilst my DIY abilities are limited, this kit is fairly straight forward to install, at least on my humble GS500. Not only are the instructions very detailed, but also the online help for bike-specific installations is great.The box comes with MANY parts, but not all are required! There's several fitting options for the oil reservoir device and also for fixing the "injector" oiling outlet. There's lots of fixings to keep the tubing nice and neat too.After the initial filling and priming, you need to do a little experimentation with output setting (there's a knob that adjusts output from PRIME-9,8,7...1). I soon got it spot on and the chain always looks wet, but not dripping. I have also noticed that the chains remains clean. Unlike spray-on lubes that get gunky and dirty very quickly, this special oil never goes thick and horrid. I guess it's thin enough to come away bit by bit as you ride, taking any muck with it.I've now had mine fitted for 6 months (about 2,000+ miles) and only just needed to re-fill the reservoir. I think there's probably 2 or 3 extra refills worth in the supplied oil bottle, so it's extremely economical to run.To summarise, it's straightforward to install, easy to adjust, gives peace of mind, saves loads of dosh on silly sprays (and even more money on a new chain!), lasts ages between refills and even keeps your chain looking clean.Greg

A first class product . Fitting relatively easy if you have a mechanical background/skill. Instructions from scottoiler web site are a bit vague when querying location of site for mounting scottoiler reservoir.Overall the oiler works as advertised and as proven on other motorcycles i have owned and fitted oiler to it does substantially increase chain life.Scottoiler automatic chain lubrication v system

Purchased this following a excellent review in Ride magazine.If you purchase my advice is to go straight to the Scottoiler website and check if your bike needs any additional fittings. I have a Suzuki GSX600F and it needed an additional 'T' piece, which was free (and free P&P) from Scottoiler. This arrived in two days.The instructions on the Scottoiler website make fitting simple. Only problem was the fitting photographs had the rear wheel nut on the wrong side. This meant I had to take off the rear wheel to fit.My advice is when fitting take your time and plan out where you are going to run the tubing. This will make life simplier later on.Only took a couple of days to get the flow rate right.Excellent product and if I ever get another bike this will be removed and going on the new bike.
