I was looking for a new internal hard drive for my Apple G5. I was not sure if it was compatible with Macs so i emailed the supplier and they replied very quickly and to their credit they were Honest to say they were not sure if it was but it would be no problem to return. Rest assured all Mac users this drive is fine, works well and fits into my G5 tower with no hassle. I find it to be not silent but just a humm sound which is not very loud at all. I now run my OSX leopard system software from it and now also have plenty of space for my music and applications, and use the original disk as back up disk in port 2.. The only slight drawbacks were that the drive arrived wrapped up in bubble wrap and in a padded bag, but i must stress there was no damage and the drive was well protected but it would be nice to have it arrive in the makers box. Also no guide screws to get the drive into the tower which would have been supplied if it came in the box, i had to buy them separate, they are cheap enough but it held me up a bit when i was putting it back together over the christmas break. But please don't let this put you off as this was GREAT SERVICE and above all A GREAT DRIVE.

this hard disk is quieter than a insect crawling across a carpet, i use it in my hard disk external caddy and it is so quiet.
