Using a "Tri-Titanium" aerospace alloy compromised of aluminum, magnesium, and titanium, the Slik 700DX Pro Tripod Legs has a strength-to-weight ratio 40% greater than comparable tripods in its class. It is a very professional unit whether you're concerned with strength, fit and finish, or refinement of operation. The rapid-type center column cannot rotate accidentally, and the lever locks work securely with a minimum of movement. The 700DX has foam-padded upper segments to ease carrying on your shoulder and working in the cold, and its simple angled rubber leg tips give a firm footing while also allowing you to carry it upon some aircraft.

Like many of you I am sure, I have spent ages trawling through various reviews (on & offline) forums, articles and direct sales & auction sites becoming slowly bewildered by the mass of products available to do, essentially a very simple thing i.e. hold my camera steady during long/complicated exposures. It seemed to me that it was possible to spend an unfeasibly large sum of money for 3 pieces of reasonably well engineered alloy or carbon fibre. I looked at, played with, assembled and dis assembled all the fancy Italian sounding brands and found them to be....well, OK....fairly rigid, some fairly light but most more than capable of what I wanted it to do. So then I went straight out and ordered this SLIK Pro 700DX Titanium Alloy......I know, don't ask, I just did allright?What a beautiful piece of engineering...........reassuringly solid, not as heavy as I was expecting and unbelievably stable. I ordered the legs on their own and a separate ball head and I have to say I am overjoyed with the lot. What is even better is that I have spent a lot less money than if I had ordered the Mussolini's or Gianfranco Zola's or whatever they are called. I reckon this is a bit of a bargain...keep it to yourself! (also they give you a neat little zip up bag to carry the thing in.....none of the others do as far as I could see)
