Product Description

This is the best beginners' classical guitar we have found for the price with good construction and playability. The guitar comes with a cover and a website address to get free guitar lessons. Suitable for smaller hands - usually up to age 7 or so. Please note - nylon strung guitars like this can require a little time for the strings to settle and stay in tune. Stretching out the strings with your fingers a little before tuning helps speed up this process. This applies to any classical guitar, not just this model!

5Super purchase
By Yorkshireman
I bought this guitar for my 6 year old daughter's Christmas present. The quality and tone are excellent and she was delighted by the size and associated ease of handling. This item really is superb value for money and I can highly recommend it.

4Excellent guitar. One small issue
By Mr. As Clarke
As many reviewers have stated, this is an excellent beginner's guitar. The build quality is excellent, especially when you consider the price. The bonus of 12 months of online guitar tuition that comes in the box is very welcome. The varnish is tough and durable. The supplied transit case is designed to be used to transport the guitar, but it is altogether too thin to provide anything but mild protection. I do recommend buying a padded case if your child has to travel any distance with it - the Kinsmann 1/2 and 3/4 padded guitar cases both work well. We bought the Kinsmann KRCG5 padded case, which was perfect - However, my son found it could double as a sleeping bag :-DThe action can be adjusted quite a bit. There is a metal rod within the neck that may be tensioned to change the shape of the fretboard in a similar fashion to a steel-acoustic. Be careful! Incorrect use of the supplied 'allen-key' will break the guitar's neck! You can shave some height off the bridge to lower the action to 3mm from its default position of 4-5mm - again, only for those who know what they are doing as the default position is fine. You can use standard tuning, but as with all small guitars you may wish to consider an alternate tuning. Your music teacher should be able to help in this regard. My one and only criticism, hence the loss of one star, is the guitar is unbalanced around the upper-bout. This is the pivot point where the guitar rests on your knee. The head and neck are substantially heavier than the body - this means the child will have to use some of their strength to hold up the fretboard unless they position the guitar with the nut above eye level - not ideal. Don't get me wrong, other guitars at this price point are usually much worse in this respect. In fact, you can expect this to be an issue with many 1/2 and 3/4 size guitars as the neck and head must be solid heavier woods and the body is hollow. If you are willing to pay over £300 then you can find some balanced 1/2 size guitars, but how many of us are willing to spend so much for a child starting out.I am toying with the idea of gluing something inside the lower-bout to balance out the fretboard - though I may have to fashion something out of wood myself. It should be a very easy process to put in a counter-weight as the sound-hole is large enough for an adult to reach inside. I'd be very interested to hear ideas from others on any alternatives.Let me sign off simply by saying you will be hard pressed to find a better 1/2 guitar at the price - I certainly have not found anything as good for less than £300. Just give some consideration to helping the little one out by adding a counter balance inside the body.
