The pedal unit is a must have add-on for the DGX-640 digital piano. The unit itself is well built and strong and of a good design. Recommended if it did not come with the piano.*NOTE* Although in the title it says it is for the DGX-630, it will also work with the DGX-640 digital piano.

This item consists of a long lump of shaped wood to span the length of the keyboard, with a plastic insert which holds the actual pedals. So far there are absolutely no problems with this item, and the 'plasticky' pedals are holding up to normal use, but I do wonder about the quality over a long time. Since this is manufactured by Yamaha, I would expect it to be slightly better quality for the money. If I could have paid less for this item, I would have scored it at 5 stars.
