Solid product, with one non-fatal flaw
By Murray
A pretty excellent PSU, I've had mine for a year now (or thereabouts) and it has run perfectly in near-constant heavy use. The power supply itself is solid, with good build quality, with a reasonably quiet fan.Where this PSU falls down, however, are in the cables. This PSU does not have modular cabling, which wouldn't be such an issue if the cables were bundled with netting, as I have seen on many (and some far cheaper) PSUs. This means that the clumps of cables get tangled, and often muddled. As I have a case in which the PSU is mounted at the bottom, rather than the top (Antec 300, for reference) the cables are not long enough to reach the top 5 1/2" drive, and fit rather tightly to the CPU cooler, so I had to buy extensions (thus making for an even more cable-choked interior!) On my old case (CoolerMaster Elite... something or other...) the same issue came up, but rather than motherboard/DVD power cable issues, it was the HDD bays that the cables did not quite reach: anoyingly, this has meant I've had to buy 3 different sets of cable extenders.)Other than that, an excellent PSU, the orange glow is a good brightness, but not too glaringly bright, and the fan self-regulates according to heat (often entirely off when you are not doing anything taxing, which helps keep noise levels low.)4/5, as the PSU itself is fantastic, just let down by cable issues.
