Hard to find - but well worth it
By Jemleykenato
While in Tokyo in the legendary Yodobashi store in Shinjuku I was browsing the extensive range of headphones, searching for the best quality portable headphones that could power an Ipod without an external amp and would pack a punch. I tried, Sennheisers, Grados, Audio Tecknika, the lot, and a company I had never heard of before drew my attention with its bright red headband. A bit put-off at first at the Monster Beats-esque look to them, I tried them on anyway and was instantly blew away by the power, quality and volume of the music that came from my ipod. The punch they give listening to your favourite dance, rock, hip-hop or what have you is just incredible. The bass is perfect if you like a bit of oomph and doesn't sacrifice on the high end. Best of all is compared to many high end reference cans I tried, the volume was really up there when using them with an iphone, driving every beat to its maximum, perfect if you like your music loud. Another problem I had with other contenders was sould leakage to other people nearby. With many headphones I find sound quality is almost always at the expense of being a nuisance to others around you. They are also as much a joy to listen at home as carrying around on your head on the underground or wherever.I since returned to the UK and found out that they aren't sold anywhere to me which was a big surprise as I believe they would sell like hotcakes if they ever were to have a widespread release and get the attention they deserve. I went to Tottenham Court Road to test other headphones the other day and was extremely disappointed by any lack of competition for them. I gave my headphones for the owner of one of the shops on the street to try and he was also blown away and told me he's going to try and find a way to source them to the UK!They are pricey on Amazon as I bought mine for sub £200, but they're worth anything up to £300 in my opinion, trying Bose QC3s and QC15 which don't compare at all and sound decidedly muddy in comparison. So i'd say take advantage of them being available on Amazon and I hope they get a widespread release otherwise I might have to go to Tokyo again just for another pair...
