Lightweight thermal payer. Stylish, high quality
By Rowena Hoseason
The Chakra Zip top is rated 200 in Icebreaker's range, which goes from 150 to 320. It's intended for more active use rather than ultimate protection against cold. These products aren't cheap but they are excellent quality. The hi-tech use of wool means that you get a lot of warmth for very little bulk, so they work really well when layered with other clothes (or best of all, with outer layers from the Icebreaker range, although that can get expensive!).Icebreaker products really are top knotch and I've been wearing my 260 Base Layer top all through the recent bitterly cold snap. It's a really good fit and so much more stylish than most thermals -- which means it's easy to peel of some top layers indoors without worrying that you're going to look like an insane granny in weird white woolies! At first I was a little concerned that the wool would be itchy, but this simply isn't the case. The base layer is as comfortable next to the skin as cotton, but ten times warmer! Also, there's no itchy or irritating seams or labels, and great styling. Good choice of colours, too.Icebreakers are different to many other thermal garments because they are designed to be used in active sports, and so the wool fabric breathes naturally. This means they stay very toasty but don't smell -- at all -- not even after weeks of being worn regularly. And they are fully machine washable (just don't tumble dry).Icebreakers do have a very sporty image but I use mine in every day life at the moment. They are really practical, warm and comfortable, and you don't need to be walking to the South Pole to get plenty of benefit from them. There are other much cheaper thermal brands out there, but Icebreakers seem to be me to far superior. I suspect mine will last for years.HOWEVER, when ordering/choosing your garment, I advise that you check which weight/conditions the top or leggings are intended for. My 260 base layers are rated as suitable for extreme cold, yet I wouldn't want to have any less warmth from them. I wear them while working in chilly conditions, and haven't been too hot at all. So I would always opt for the highest-rated garment, suited to extreme cold where ever it's available.9/10

Excellent
By Mrs Julie Galuszka
One of many Icebreaker items that I have. Excellent for keeping warm and also for keeping dry in cold weather whilst excercising. Recommended for athletes keeping warm and dry. Worth the extra investment. Washes well too.

Brilliant
By Mrs Smith
I have worn this top to walk, cycle, ski and to the pub! Great fit, very soft, I never feel smelly and horrible after a hard days walking or cycling and I have never worn my synthetic technical tops since i bought my merino. In fact, I now have 3... and upgraded to these after a cheaper version which I found too thin (could see bra underneath easily) which was also a bit itchy. Neither problem with these, fantastic. I bought a man's version for my father, and he is equally delighted. I think it is well worth the extra money.
