I am very impressed with these warm, snug, comfortable, easy-care Icebreaker baselayers, and have the lightweight 'Red Ram' branded range plus the Icebreaker 200 and 260 weight versions. These are the heavier-weight baselayers and ideally suited to exceptionally cold weather - ice, snow and beating the chills of freezing fog and have the benefit of the higher polo neck with lightweight zip for comfort and ventilation.So far I've worn mine for walking, camping, canoeing and sleeping in. In mid-winter trips when I've been wildcamping with no facilities at all, I've popped it on before leaving and not taken it off for several days until returning home again. This is a good test of comfort and performance - and it's excelled on both. They're warm, close-fitting and the merino wool doesn't itch at all, doesn't pill beneath rucksack straps, dries fast when it gets wet (from sweat or a shower) and is still warm even when wet. Icebreaker say it won't develop any odours and - they're right. 5 days of wearing mine, including for sleeping in, and there was no smell at all.Until buying this, I'd worn a variety of Helly Hansen merino wool and polypropylene mix (never again..!), polyester, viscose, viscose/cotton blends, microfleece ... etc - you name it, I've tried them all but none come even close to the Icebreaker pure merinos for warmth, comfort and performance - although the Icebreaker is noticeably less wind-proof so a good windproof outer layer is advisable. For ultimate performance in temperatures of -20 deg, I've worn a 200 base-layer beneath one of these 260 tops and have been toasty warm without feeling bulky.They're machine-washable on a wool cycle, dry quickly in the airing cupboard following a short spin - and there's no shrinkage at all.A confidently-recommended purchase.
