Super Sony
By DaveRave
WHERE does one begin with this overflowing cornucopia of sound?I was in a bit of a dilemma at first with AP7 - was it going to turn out to be 'rocket science' like a lot of pro-DAWS are?You know the sort of thing - no matter how many times you' RTFM!' (older internet users will understaand this not very kind shout hurled at newbies asking lame questions back in the early 90s) there is always something you just cannot fathom out.Well, with AP7 there's no such hassle because not only are there plenty of tutorials the whole package is so intuitive and user-friendly that, to be honest, you could use the manual to prop up a wonky chair leg. But it's there, just in case.Let's face it, there are some cracking 'workstations' out there for the hobbyist - the excellent and ongoing MAGIX and Steinberg's Sequel2 to name just a couple of shining examples of pure useability and enjoyment, but when it comes to that extra bit of spit and polish then the trusted masters of music - Sony - have come up trumps (again) with their latest incarnation of the renowned Acid Pro series.Don't let the 'professional' tag line put off any newbie out there either. Although it is the choice of many a top studio pro, anyone with a degree of nous can open the box and slap down a toe-trapping track with aplomb - it is that user-friendliness that raises it head and shoulders above would-be imitators.Anyway, Sony have given you more bang for your buck for 2009 and the most jaw-dropping things I've seen for years are the fantastic 'giveaways' included. You get:The Garritan ARIA orchestral suite, Native Instruments Guitar Combos, Submersible Music KitCore drum nachine and the Acid/iZotope Pro effects rack. Oh, and let me not forget - a free year's subscription to AcidPlanet's Prozone area. The add-ons will make older PCs squeak a bit but you don't have to install them and can keep your activation codes for when you eventually do. The whole package runs fine on a 2-gigger RAM job..Sony have worked hard to make this a decent upgrade from Pro6 and they've done a fine job. Now, among other goodies, you get track freeze to save CPU power, tempo curves and (wait for it) 'Zplane elastique' Pro time-strecthing!Who thinks up these names?Best of all in my book is the unlimited MP3 encoding straight from the workstation (Steinberg, please take note!) and the plethora of loops and samples to get you off the ground.Anyway, you cannot go wrong if you want a pro-DAW that does all you ask of it plus plenty of bells and whistles to go with it.Be warned though, it's VERY addictive.

Sony ACID Pro 7(PC CD).
By Super gran.
I was advised to buy this to edit my guitar music, it seems complicated at the moment as I have only just started to use it but luckily my son knows how to use it and is helping me, its great fun, I'm a groovy gran and love playing my electric guitars for myself, I like to make cd's of my music for family and friends.
