Antec Notebook Cooler 200
By Toops
Firstly the Antec Notebook Cooler 200 is extremely well packaged and is the first thing prospective buyers should look for as it gives an indication as to the quality of the product inside.Even though the cooler is predominantly made from plastic, it is extremely sturdy and very well built able to accomodate smaller laptops up to and including 17" gaming laptops. The cooler works in two ways firstly raising the laptop on the protruding inner stands (which are reflective) so as to allow greater air-flow in and around your laptop's underside, and secondly by constantly shifting the stale air and replacing it with cool air using its 'Big Boy' fan.The cooler is aesthetically pleasing and features blue neon lights within the fan's setting that gives off a futuristic glow that will inevitably please those within the modding fraternity. If this is not to your liking it can also be switched off.Going back to the fan, its large size (far bigger than any other laptop cooler fan presently on the market) means that the level of noise it emits even on high setting (it features two speed settings) is minimal. It is also one of the only coolers to be made with the intention of being able to use it on one's lap which is another added bonus - one of the advantages of having a laptop afterall is its ability to be used anywhere you want. The whole unit requires very little power to run and most laptops should have no trouble with running it via a spare USB hub, though you should make sure that the USB sockets on your laptop are able to power external hardware such as this before you purchase - anything made after the year 2000 should be safe.Another important point that you should consider is the layout of the vents (if any) on the underside of your laptop. Having no vents at all (as do many Applebooks) will not get the full benefit from this cooler, as it blows cool air from the ground-up and hopefully into the vents within your system. Make sure too that you are not one of the unfortunate ones to have a fan vent that blows downwards on the underside of your laptop, as it would immediately conflict with the cooler's airflow in the opposite direction and possibly damage your machine. One of the freeware applications I used to measure the cooler's effectiveness was SpeedFan which measures internal (CPU and GPU) temperatures within computers and it lowered temperatures in all areas (vent exhaust, keyboard, underside, batteryback etc) and does exactly what it says on the box, though it is fairly expensive. All in all a great purchase. It only gets 4 stars because the unit could have done with an added USB hub for the USB it takes to power the thing, but even without it this cooler comes highly recommended if you don't mind splashing out so as to protect your £1000+ investment!

Wow
By C. Hill
When I opnened it out of the box my first impression was 'wow', this looks awesome! It really is a stunning stylish design far better looking than any other cooler ever produced. My laptop is a Dell inspiron 6400 with a screen size of 15 1/2" and it fits comfortably on the raised aluminium supports. The cooler seems big enough to be effective with 17" laptops also.It says it has a 'big boy' fan and they're not kidding, its huge and covers at least 80% of the base of my laptop keeping it very cool. My laptop used to get up to 80 degrees centigrade just browsing on firefox but it's now stable in the 50's and peaking around 60 degrees when measured with speedfan. It's also worth noting that the fan blows cool air onto your laptop rather than sucking the hot air away. The fan is also very quiet as it's so large, possibly even quieter than my laptop fan.The only downside's are that the cooler is pretty large and much thicker than anything i've seen so it's not particularly portable. One reason for this is that the fan housing is about an inch in height underneath the cooler. The other reason is the ergonomic design they have used for the legs as there is an arc which mimics the curve of your legs, allowing it to sit very confortably on your lap. It's a little pricey at around £50 but if you're looking for effective heat dissipation then look no further. Unlike a lot of coolers which seem flimsy and overly plasticy, the build quality is great along with the looks and functionality, and it looks to me to be a good investment which will not break and also keep my laptop alive a lot longer.

Antec Notebook Cooler 200
By Kelly
I was a little apprehensive about this product at first due to the price, after my first purchase of a laptop cooler I was disappointed to say the least. The fans didnt blow very fast and hardly kept my laptop cool when playing games. This cooler however, does its job really well. It has a fast fan with two speeds and the fan is quite large and the air it blows out is nice and cold which helps my laptop suck it up and cool itself. So make sure your laptop sucks air through the bottom if you are looking to buy this cooler. It also has a blue light underneath with an on and off switch, I cant see the point of this apart from aesthetic purposes, but on the whole i dont think it needs this as this cooler looks very chic anyway.I am very happy with the Antec Cooler 200, it is a little pricey, but does its job very well. On the whole, I would recommend this product. I have not given it 5 stars because it could do with an extra USB slot because the power cord fits into a USB and my laptop only has two.
