Great shoe, but durability is suboptimal
By Volcano_runner
I purchased this shoe for walking and running on subtropical islands in very steep and rugged terrain, on grass, mud, in rainforest, semi-desert and volcanic ash. The shoes fit great, are very lightweight, and have very grippy soles. However, the grip seems to be enhanced by very soft rubber, which means that after 2-4 weeks on anything other than soft mud or grass the profile is worn down, to the point where the grip let's you down. After 6 months of light use I took these shoes to a volcanic island, running mostly in ash-covered rain forest. The soles are now completely void of any profile, and provide no grip whatsoever. In pouring rain and on >45 degree slopes the front-foot polyester material, which is nice and lightweight and breathable, did not hold up to forces and shredded. The shoes are now completely destroyed and unusable. I had them for a total of 8 months, and they saw intensive use for 2 months. It is a nice product, but if you are looking for durability, this does not seem to be the top choice.

Offroad Feet
By John C.
Having done one or two mountain races in road shoes I was looking for something to prevent me from slipping on the slick peat you find on a lot of mountain trails, especially after a hundred or so people have run up the trail before you. I had found road shoes to be quite perilous as I had slipped on a couple of occasions and pulled muscles in my back. The first day out in these shoes was great. I hadn't broken them in and found them to be a little narrow on the foot as well as not tying tight around the ankle like you would if you were running in road shoes but that was far outmatched by the extra confidence I had ascending steep grassy slopes and descending rocky paths. I just didn't have to think about it and could concentrate on giving it the beans. as well as not having a slipped disk at the end of a race. great pair of shoes and extremely light. noticeably lighter than a normal pair of trainers, I'm not that anal, I didn't get a weighing scales out or anything. I couldn't get over it.

Salomon shoes are brilliant
By Mrs. Fiona jarvis
I have been a fan of Salomon shoes for some time. I bought my first pair in Austria after seeing so many people wearing them as a general all purpose shoe throughout the ski season. I have hiked in this shoe and it was very comfortable and gave me good grip on the ground. This is a great progression from my first pair-slimmer to look at with great support underfoot. The ortho footbed is a bonus and I've never had sore feet after hiking or running in them, its light in weight and the pull tie system that they have on these shoes is brilliant-never again do your laces come undone! they are quick to get on and off. They look just as great with a pair of jeans as they do running tights.Worn in all weathers and my feet have remained dry. A great investment you won't regret
